Yiannis Kouroumbakalis was born in 1979 and already in the 1980s he started practicing martial arts, going through Tang Soo Do, Shotokan Karate-do and kickboxing. In search of an art with a wider application, he found himself at Bujinkan in 2000, with Filippos Matzirides as his teacher.

Since 2017, he has been training with Nonda Asproulis and Dr. Kacem Zoughari. He has been an instructor of Shunkan Dojo since 2018, with a special emphasis on the correct kinesiology of the classical schools. He has attended various fighting systems seminars with a multitude of teachers, and is himself a certified Ju Jitsu coach from GGA.
